Snow. Again.

Although I'm not exactly thrilled that it is snowing again, I figured I would make the best of it and see if I could get any good shots. Everything seems softer with a little snow falling. My battery went dead after I circled around the neighborhood a couple of times...right around the time my fingers started to freeze. Good timing.

The Power of Photographs

I'm taking a slight detour here and encouraging everyone to read this article, look at the photos and then take action. You can write your Congressperson or look to Amnesty International or Human Rights Watch for simple actions you can take that can make a big difference in stopping genocide.

More Gates

I swear I wasn't planning on taking and posting more photos of The Gates, but Tom and I went ice skating at Lasker Skating Rink in Central Park on Sunday and ended up doing more exploring. It was nice to see The Gates on a sunny day with a blue sky. I really enjoyed using the light a bit more with the "saffron".

I had never spent any time in Central Park that far north before and Harlem Meer provided a nice reflecting pool for me. My little sister, the photographer, says I am "making love to reflections" right now and she's probably right, since that is what is catching my eye more and more.

Thanks to everyone for their nice feedback. I am really excited that I've found a forum for showing some of my photographs to my friends and family without holding anyone hostage in front of my computer.

I Swear I'm Not Obsessed

I thought this photo of The Gates from outer space is neat in relation to the pictures I took last weekend. Plus, anything from space is cool.

The Gates in Central Park

Tom and I walked through Central Park to see The Gates today. There was an amazing crowd and everyone seemed to be in a great mood, talking to other people and taking pictures. We only covered the area from around 61st and Fifth Avenue to 67th and Central Park West, but you'd need to spend about two days strolling around and taking pictures to see it all. I can't wait to see it on a sunny day with blue skies. I can't wait to see the sun, period...

There is a lot of great information about this installation. Check out Gothamist and the New York Times to start.
