Winter is Back But I Still Left the Apartment

We braved the cold and ridiculous wind and took a walk this afternoon around Soho and the Lower East Side. I highly recommend Housing Works Used Bookstore and Cafe for cheap books and a good place to get a cup of coffee and sit for awhile. Plus, you feel much more virtuous than if you are sitting in a corporate Starbucks with a $5 coffee.

We then headed over to Yonah Schimmel Knish Bakery for some food. I've only had a knish once or twice in random delis and really didn't think they were that great. Well, I have been officially converted. Their knishes are $2.50, delicious and hit the spot on a frigid day. Potato goodness.

Winslow Health and Hygiene Series

We saw this hanging in front of Billy's Antiques & Props. Luckily, Tom was able to explain the seemingly nonsensical series of illustrations. January 15, 2006. Posted by Picasa

Icy Puddle

It was so, so cold and windy today. Walking around the city felt gritty, cold, and still beautiful. January 15, 2006. Posted by Picasa

Isn't it amazing, the perfect symmetry of this tree right in the middle of one of the busiest streets in Manhattan? January 15, 2006. Posted by Picasa

What a Way to Start the New Year

Well, this has been a very exciting, tiring, and transformative few weeks. Tom and I just got back from a few days in San Diego, where we celebrated our five year anniversary. But before we left, he had a surprise for me...we got engaged! Duh Da!

There are no ring pictures, as we are taking his maternal grandmother's ring and using the diamonds to create an engagement ring. Maybe later and solely for artistic purposes (of course! :D) I'll post a photo.

Peacock

As soon as I pulled my camera out, this peacock immediately opened up his feathers and began preening. My favorite kind of subject... Posted by Picasa
